Practical Nursing |

|
CHP's Practical Nursing Training Program is a four-semester program that trains students
to care for sick, injured, convalescent, and disabled patients under the direction of a
physician or registered nurse.
Basic theory is coordinated with clinical practice under the direction of competent
instructors and nursing staffs of affiliate hospitals and institutions.
Trainees will give direct patient care and perform certain tasks, including assessment,
administration of treatments and medications; assist in preparing a care plan, document
care, and monitor client progress.
The Practical Nursing Training Program has a total of 1335 hours of lecture and
laboratory activities and 912 hours of clinical work in hospitals and affiliate
institutions.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Currently there is a nation wide nursing shortage in the U.S. allowing for ample
employment opportunity for Licensed Practical Nurses. The growing aging population in
need of care also affects the demand. There is a shortage of jobs in both rural and inner
city in this career field. Employment of licensed practical nurses is expected to
increase faster than the average for all occupations through the next decade. Graduates
may be employed in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, or home care agencies.
EARNING POTENTIAL
In the U. S., approximately 95% of graduates find employment within 6 months of
graduation. LPNs can earn as much $42,000 or P 2.35 million annually.

Nursing Aide |

CHP's Certified Nursing Aide Training Program is a two-semester program that trains
students to provide basic nursing care under the supervision of Registered Nurses. In the
U.S., some states allow LPNs / LVNs to supervise nursing aides.
Basic theory is coordinated with clinical practice under the direction of competent
instructors and nursing staffs of affiliate hospitals and institutions.
Trainees are expected to develop competencies in providing personal care and physical,
psychosocial and emotional support to clients as well as perform emergency, safety and
infection control procedures.
The Certified Nursing Aide Training Program has a total of 585 hours of lecture and
laboratory activities and 432 hours of clinical work in hospitals and affiliate
institutions.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
In the U.S., most nursing aides work in nursing homes. Currently, together with the
increasing emphasis of rehabilitation and the long-term care needs of a growing elderly
population, there is financial pressure on hospitals to discharge patients as soon as
possible thus producing more nursing home admissions. Modern medical technology will also
increase the employment of nursing aides. This technology, while saving and extending
more lives, increases the need for long-term care provided by nursing aides. In addition,
nursing aides also work in hospitals and personal care facilities.
EARNING POTENTIAL
Overall employment of nursing aides, along with home health aides, are projected to grow
faster than the average through the year 2010. CNAs can earn as much $30,000 or P 1.68
million annually.
